Narmada Gobin, entry #12
I have been sick as a dog for the past few days. I feel disgusting and so weak. I have little energy to do anything. And do you wanna know why? Because I have allergies! Every year, as soon as the weather gets warm, I am just waiting for the sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, swollen face, and my irritated throat. I love that the trees are growing back and are brightening up the streets, but why do I have to stuffer? It made me really think about it this year, especially taking this environmental class. I realize something as little as pollen that can bother a person and give them allergies, shows how we can not compete with nature. We can't do anything to the environment. The environment is there and it will continue to produce pollen and I will continue to have allergies. Taking medicines to calm the allergic reaction can do so much. People have it so bad, that it will contain the sneezing for very little time and it wil start again. I am not a very strong believer in medicine, so the fact I have to take Zyrtec, Claritan, and Allegra makes me so angry. I like my body to fight back and heal itself but it's so hard and frustrating watching it be in defeat. Thankfully, my allergies are here at the beginning of Spring and are gone before Summer starts. The struggle will be with me for now.
